Predicting the Arrival of Spring Ideas for Assessment There are many opportunities for assessment embedded in this project. Ideally, individual students will keep a Journey North science notebook Periodically, have individual students record their own thoughts in this notebook so you can observe their progress through the project. For example: Have students record their own KWL charts at various points. Compare the sophistication of the student's rationale for making and changing predictions at regular intervals. Ask students to do individual webbing exercises in their notebooks. Have students defend their own predictions in instances when their opinion differs from that of the group.
