Bald Eagle

Bald Eagle

  • The eagle is facing away from sun
  • The sticks are smaller in the center of nest, bigger on ends
  • It looks like the nest has softer material in center, plus sprigs of green vegetation (white pine?)
  • Center of nest looks cleaner than edge, no white wash appears on sticks
  • The chick is very mobile, walks toward edge of nest where big sticks are, adult doesn’t seem concerned
  • I see fish on edge of nest that wasn’t there yesterday
  • Only once in 12 snapshots taken during a full hour were two eagles present
  • The adult eagle doesn’t move its body much
  • There’s still one un-hatched egg (Text on the website says it will not hatch.)
  • Tall pole must be on east side of nest. Like a sundial, I can see shadow move over time.
  • In the 12:35 pm photo, the adult’s wing is away from body and partially open
  • In the 1:35 pm photo, the adult appears to be poking her belly with her beak.
  • In the 2:05 pm photo, the baby looks dangerously close to the edge!
